Why Americans will destroy our planet

Johann Hari makes a persuasive argument against Al Gore's recent comments in his latest column for the Independent (read it here). He doesn't disagree with Gore's warnings, but he points out that no American politician will ever act to curb the US's insatiable thirst for fossil fuels. And while the US bullies the rest of the world into toeing its line, we'll all ultimately pay the price for - according to pro-climate change group CEI - "American productivity and progress".
