Well, they won't now I've typed that, but theoretically tonight we can go two points clear at the top of the Championship if we manage to beat Southampton on their own ground. We've not got a great record at St Mary's - two 0-0 draws and a 2-0 defeat - so I'm not holding my breath. If we do manage to get a result, though, it will be a fantastic turnaround after the Norwich debacle. The Blues board have been proved right in keeping their faith with Steve Bruce, but as I said before, no humble pie before automatic promotion is achieved, and maybe even then I'll hold off to see how we fare in the Premiership should we get there.
I was tempted to go and see Colchester play at home last night against Hull, but realised they'd be sold out because Hull are managed by their old manager, Phil Parkinson. Suffice to say we missed a cracker - after thumping Southend 3-0 on Saturday and then going 1-0 down inside 15 minutes, the Us responded by smacking Hull 5-1. They're now in seventh on 30 points. I think the play offs will ultimately be beyond them due to their away record, but at home they are clearly invincible at present. The next game is 16th December against Stoke - depending on what we're doing I'm tempted in going...
