Another interest rate cut...

... should be good news right? It certainly means I'll be paying off more of my mortgage each month while Egg remains a going concern (as part of Citigroup I can't rule out that it'll be sold off shortly and my excellent mortgage rate - tracker 0.75% above the base rate - will be lost).

But in the grand scheme of things it matters little. It appears runaway climate change is here, now. Something we thought to push to 2050 is on the verge of happening today, tomorrow. If we want to stop it, now is the time to do it. George Monbiot has a radical plan (click here) - Christ, it would even bring new jobs - but you can bet the likes of Gordon Brown will do nothing about it. And don't get me started on George W Bush's final legacy to the world, as he opens up the wilderness to his neo-conservative friends to trash in the midnight hours of his presidency.

What kind of world awaits us? Now is the time to start worrying, instead of giving a damn about stuff that in the grand scheme of things won't mean a jot. And yes, that includes our very jobs...
